Nurture Landscapes, an award-winning horticulture, landscape and grounds maintenance company based in Windlesham, near Bagshot, Surrey, has used an additional £7 million funding package from HSBC UK to acquire two landscaping businesses.

The funding has enabled Nurture Landscapes to purchase Stockport-based Claphams Landscape Services and Rockside Estates in Bristol.

The business has been growing steadily since it began trading 12 years ago with these latest purchases representing Nurture’s 24th and 25th acquisitions. They are also expected to help the company achieve its aim of reaching the £100m turnover mark during 2020/2021. Nurture Landscapes now employs over 1,300 people as it expands its reach across the country in key growth areas.

Peter Fane, founder and managing director of Nurture Landscapes, commented on the expansion: “I’m thrilled to welcome two more incredible teams into the Nurture Landscapes family. We’ve had a successful year of organic growth, and our latest acquisitions will support us further in maintaining our vision of providing first-class landscaping services to the corporate and private sector across the UK. HSBC UK has been instrumental in this journey, supporting us through our expansion strategy and encouraging our growth.”

Nick Hicks, HSBC UK area director for corporate banking in Sussex and Surrey, said: “Nurture Landscapes has a strong track record of delivering exceptional growth. As a long standing customer, we are delighted to support them once again as they continue to expand their national presence.”

Nurture Landscapes was founded in 2008 in Windlesham, with just four team members, offering first-class landscaping services to corporate clients including schools, parks, sports clubs and businesses. The team’s ambitious growth strategy led to rapid expansion through bolt-on acquisitions, where the company often purchased companies when the owners were retiring.

With a strong focus on providing environmentally sustainable services, the company has successfully grown across the UK and now employees thousands of people nationally, resulting in a turnover of over £85 million for the 2019/2020 financial year.

The team has won an impressive 59 awards to date for its work across the sector. In 2019, Nurture Landscapes was also ranked on The Sunday Times Virgin Atlantic Fast Track 100 list of British companies with the fastest growing sales, the companies third appearance on the list.

HSBC UK allocated the funding package from its £14 billion lending fund to support SMEs in the UK, with £200m committed to businesses across West Sussex and Surrey.
