Eastleigh: Harris Transport ceases trading after fruitless search for buyer
Alexander Kinninmonth and Richard Brewer of RSM Restructuring LLP have been appointed joint administrators of Eastleigh-based transport, distribution and warehouse company Harris Transport.
As a result of recent trading difficulties, Harris Transport, based in Parham Drive, has now ceased to trade and administrators are arranging for customers to collect their goods.
Prior to the appointment, the company made 70 staff redundant on Friday August 17. A further 15 people have been retained by administrators in order to assist in an orderly wind-down of the warehouse operation.
Alexander Kinninmonth, one of the joint administrators from RSM said: "Unfortunately, it was not possible to sell the business as a going concern. As a result, the company was left with little choice but to cease trading and make staff redundant.
"We are assisting affected staff to make their claims to the Redundancy Payments Office and working with customers to allow them to collect goods.
"Fifteen staff have been retained in the short term as we wind down the warehouse operation and seek to realise assets for the benefit of creditors."
