Coach firm Lucketts Group has been named the best in the country after winning one of the coach industry’s biggest national awards.

The company, based in Fareham, was named Large Coach Operator of the Year at the Route One awards. The win comes at the tail end of one of Lucketts’ most successful years in its 92-year history.

Since November 2017 Lucketts has acquired two nearby coach companies, significantly expanding its fleet of vehicles, staff numbers and reach across the region. It has also picked up a plethora of new contracts and grown its holiday passenger numbers significantly in the process.

Route One Awards judges were impressed with Lucketts’ tale of growth, as well as its commitment to training staff and backing eco-friendly initiatives. Its work with the DVSA to drive forward compliance standards across the whole industry was also applauded.

Managing director Tony Lawman said the wins were testament to the hard work put in by the entire team. He said: “This has undoubtedly been one of the most exciting and action-packed years in our history. The two acquisitions, as well as our reputation for quality and compliance, have helped us to grow significantly over the last year. What’s been important, and what these awards recognise, is that we have put in place exacting standards to ensure that no matter how fast we grow, customers still get the very best service from us across the board.”

The win at the Route One awards is the latest in a string of accolades for Lucketts. The firm walked away from the prestigious UK Coach Awards earlier in the year with an impressive four awards – more than any other operator in the country.

Lucketts has a fleet of around 175 vehicles and transports hundreds of thousands of passengers every year. Customers include holidaymakers, day trippers, schools, businesses, sports clubs and other organisations.

The company now counts Lucketts Travel (in Fareham), Coliseum Coaches (in Southampton), Worthing Coaches, Solent Coaches (in Ringwood) and Mortons Travel (near Basingstoke) among its brands and is in the midst of an ambitious period of growth.
