Hampshire: Southampton Airport and Eastern Airways launch new Leeds service
This week, Southampton Airport has welcomed passengers for the brand new Eastern Airways flights to and from Leeds Bradford Airport. Customers departing on the first afternoon flight to Leeds enjoyed a complimentary, traditional cream tea in the airport’s departure lounge to mark the occasion.
Eastern Airways, the UK’s second-largest regional airline, has expanded its route network to include this service, running three daily services between Monday and Friday. In addition, it will also operate a Sunday afternoon service, providing flexibility for business passengers travelling between the two cities.
The Southampton to Leeds route links two key commercial centres and offers a quick and simple, stress-free journey. In addition to being highly convenient for business travellers, the route also provides access for leisure passengers wishing to explore the city of Leeds and the wider Yorkshire countryside.
Dave Lees, Southampton Airport’s managing director, said: "It was a pleasure to greet Eastern Airways passengers arriving for the inaugural Leeds flights, and we are delighted to welcome the airline back on to this important route.”
Weekday services depart Southampton Airport at 08:20, 16:05 and 18:40 and depart from Leeds Bradford Airport at 06:50, 10:20 and 17:10, with flights conveniently timed to allow a full business day in both cities.
Kay Ryan, Eastern Airways’ commercial director, added: “Our business schedule and timings between two of the country’s busiest commercial centres are ideally suited to the needs of business travellers across the Hampshire and South Coast region. Our flights save commuters valuable time compared to alternative road or rail options.”
