Henley open water swimming festival to be held
The River Thames will host an open water swimming and arts festival this summer.
The Henley Swimming Festival, will be held at the Temple Island Meadows in Remenham, Berkshire on July 9 and 10.
In addition to the open water swimming and a synchronised swimming display, riverside festivities will include film viewings, musical performances, talks, paddle boarding, music from a local rock choir, yoga, Zumba and children's activities.
The first open water swim on the Thames, the Selkie Henley Classic, will take place at dawn.
Director of operations Juliet Hume said it was: "fast becoming the must-attend event for anyone involved in open water swimming."
"We are looking forward to returning to Temple Island Meadows in order to showcase this stunning stretch of the Thames.
"The Classic remains a quirky, event, the only opportunity to safely swim past all the landmarks of the full Regatta course.
"To do this as the sun is rising makes for an unforgettable experience."
A licensing application has been submitted for the weekend event.
