Pandemic drives up demand for in-house carers
Live-in care company Elder is hiring 1,350 new home carers across the country, as the company has seen a 25% uptick in families looking for alternatives to residential care following the spike in cases of Covid-19 in care homes.
Nationwide, Elder has over 3,500 live-in carers A recent report by the company has found that 41% of people are now less likely to consider a care home which is driving demand for at-home care.
“We’re striving to do right by carers, so that those that need care can have the chance to choose where they are most comfortable. For many, this may still be the care home, but this could also be due to a lack of awareness around other care options,” commented CEO of Elder, Pete Dowds.
