Poole-based business Pukka Pads saw an increase in turnover as home workers chose their own stationery.

The stationery company Pukka Pads, headquartered in Branksome, said that their turnover went up by 15 percent from 2020 to 2021, coming to a total of £22.7 million, which is the company’s biggest growth in years.

With offices in the UK, USA, Europe, Hong Kong and China, became a well-known global supplier and manufacturer of branded and own label paper pads and notebooks, as well as other products.

Chris Stott, founder and managing director of Pukka Pads, said: “2021 was an incredibly successful year for us. Our most popular products were unwavering in their success; we sold over two million A4 Metallic Jotta pads alone, and although we are an established and trusted brand, we continue to innovate and maximise new opportunities to grow sales.

“The new ranges we released in 2021, coupled with our first consumer-facing website, were designed with changing consumer demands in mind.

Stott continued: “With working from home now the norm, consumers want to choose stationery that reflects their personality and have it delivered straight to their door. Choosing your own notebooks, diaries and pens becomes more of an experience than picking it up from the office stationery cupboard and we’re seeing more and more that consumers have rediscovered their love for handwriting and jotting that they perhaps lost after finishing education.

“Consumers like the fact that they can access brighter and bolder products from the same trusted stationery brand, and this is a pattern that is now being reflected in retailer buying, as they also adapt their stock to consumer needs.”

Remote and hybrid-working is the main factor behind the recent sales increase. These sales were mainly done through Amazon and their own website.

Around 10 percent of e-commerce sales contributed to the company’s revenue in 2021 in comparison to 1.5 per cent the previous year.

In 2021, the company launched four new ranges including 50 new products. One of the most popular and best-selling ranges is the Bloom range - these products feature bright floral patterns.

Pukka Pads continues to expand with new offices and sites around certain areas of the UK, including Yorkshire, in addition to expanding their marketing departments.
