Solent: Southampton Solent University invites employers to pledge their support for apprenticeships
In support of National Apprenticeship Week 2014, Southampton Solent University is hosting an employers' breakfast seminar to raise awareness of the business benefits of apprenticeships and encourage local employers to pledge apprenticeships and increase opportunities within the region.
This free breakfast seminar, hosted in partnership with Southampton City Council and the National Apprenticeship Service, will take place from 8-10am on Wednesday March 5 at Southampton Solent University Conference Centre.
Employers will be able to find out more about City Deal, the new apprenticeship support scheme; explore the opportunities these will offer; and hear from employers about the benefits to business.
Guest speakers will include Andy Tickner, skills manager, skills, regeneration and partnerships at Southampton City Council; Ian Smith, employer account manager at the National Apprenticeship Service; and professor John Chudley, dean of the Faculty of Maritime and Technology at Solent University.
Businesses will also be able to find out how to develop their workforce through higher apprenticeships; network with other employers, keynote speakers and representatives from the National Apprenticeship Service; and sign up for more information on city initiatives.
Places will be allocated on a first-come, first-served basis, and will be limited to two delegates per business. For further information and to register a place email: [email protected]
National Apprenticeship Week 2014 will take place from March 3-7. Now in its seventh year, it aims to raise awareness among employers, individuals, teachers and parents.
