Thames Valley accountants and business advisers James Cowper has been appointed auditors to the Transport Systems Catapult, a technology and innovation centre dedicated to the development and commercial exploitation of efficient transport systems that are essential to the health and wealth of the UK, its businesses, its economy and its people.

The Transport Systems Catapult is one of a seven-strong network of Catapult centres created and funded by the Government’s Technology Strategy Board, with others dedicated to high-value manufacturing, cell therapy, offshore renewable energy, the digital economy, future cities and satellite technology.

Chris Powell, chief financial officer, Transport Systems Catapult, said: “The Transport Systems Catapult supports UK industry in exploiting the massive global market for new products and services that will drive the integration of transport and its systems.

“James Cowper was able to demonstrate a keen understanding of this sector with experience of working with the Catapults and the broader public sector. Together with the ability to respond quickly and a high level of partner involvement they will be an essential part of the team.”

The Transport Systems Catapult is based in Milton Keynes.

The James Cowper team is led by partner and head of its technology practice Sue Staunton. She said: “James Cowper has considerable expertise in working with businesses in the technology sector and with a number of the Catapults. We are delighted to have been appointed auditors to the Transport Systems Catapult and look forward to working alongside Chris and his team.”

James Cowper is involved with four of the seven established Catapults: Transport Systems Catapult, Satellite Applications Catapult, Connected Digital Economy Catapult and the Future Cities Catapult.
