Nurture Landscapes, an award-winning horticulture, landscape and grounds maintenance company based in Surrey, has acquired two new businesses with support from HSBC UK.

Having refinanced Nurture Landscape’s existing funding package to total £35 million, the bank has supported the recent acquisitions of Grace Landscapes based in West Yorkshire and Essex firm Enterprise Plants, which have seen the company’s turnover increase to £80 million.

Operating under the Nurture Landscapes brand from 2019, Grace Landscapes will help strengthen the company’s offering in the north of the country, while Enterprise Plants will double the existing plant display business and increase the Nurture group’s clientele across London and the Home Counties. The company’s substantial recent growth has meant it now employs more than 1,100 people across the country.

Peter Fane, managing director of Windlesham-based Nurture Landscapes, commented: “This year has been extremely exciting for the ‘Nurture family’. Since the start of 2018, we have increased our annual sales by £45 million and feel privileged to have welcomed such strong, quality businesses. HSBC UK has been wonderfully supportive of our journey over the last 10 years, offering us flexibility and demonstrating a thorough understanding of our business needs and vision.

“Both Grace Landscapes and Enterprise Plants bring with them a wealth of knowledge and experience that we value hugely. We’ve known these businesses for decades and look forward to continuing to deliver their excellent services to both existing and new clients.”

Nick Hicks, area director at HSBC UK, added: “Nurture Landscapes has been on a steep growth curve over the last 12 months, which our Relationship Director Luke Howard has supported every step of the way. The acquisition of these two companies made perfect sense for Peter and his team, who are already setting their sights on the next venture. We look forward to continue providing financial backing to such an ambitious and entrepreneurial company.”

Fane and his team at Nurture Landscapes have plans to substantially increase their sales over the next five years, with aspirations to grow organically by £8-10m per year and acquire two businesses with sales of between £8 million and £10 million each year.

Nurture Landscapes’ business consists of landscape maintenance, winter gritting, plant displays and design and build construction (mainly to its existing corporate clients), with the majority of Nurture’s turnover attributed to landscape maintenance to the corporate sector.
