Thames Valley: Anya Hindmarch joins leading entrepreneurs at Brittelstand Symposium
Anya Hindmarch, designer, entrepreneur and creator of the eponymous luxury fashion brand, is joining leaders from the Thames Valley’s fastest growing mid-sized businesses at the Brittelstand Symposium on September 22. As a UK Trade Ambassador appointed by No 10, she will be sharing how she has built an international business through brand innovation and the challenges she has faced to spearhead the international expansion of her handbag and accessories empire.
Hindmarch commented: “There is nothing more exciting than starting and growing your own business. Along the way, however, I have found it essential to listen to other entrepreneurs’ journeys, to learn from their experiences. I am looking forward to sharing the story of growing my business and brand with Brittelstand Symposium attendees.”
Chris Dodson, Biz Utd founder, added: “Here’s someone who lives and breathes brand leadership and who captures the possibilities that fast-growth businesses can create. She’s an incredible ambassador for UK trade globally.”
Professor Graeme Leach, columnist for City AM and The Daily Telegraph, will explore the global significance of Brexit in a Q&A session.
Matthew Syed, award-winning journalist and author will deliver the Redwood Technologies Lecture on “Black Box Thinking”, his approach to high performance.
In addition, industry experts from the scale-up world including PwC, GCS, Henley Business School, the Thames Valley’s Growth Hub and Vital Six will be leading hands-on break-out sessions to support businesses.
Regional scale-up leaders Adam Hale, CEO, Fairsail; Barry Lewis, MD at Cadline; and Sean Taylor, MD at Redwood Technologies, will share their own war stories.
In the Thames Valley alone, 740 fast-growth £1-million-plus turnover SMEs are responsible for generating £14.6 billion turnover each year – a significant section of the regional and national economy. Leaders of these scale-ups face a shared set of unique challenges around issues such as talent, technology and finance for growth. The Brittelstand Symposium, launched by Business United (‘Biz Utd’) founder Chris Dodson, aims to provide a space for this community of business owners and directors, to share experiences and solutions with their peer group.
Brittelstand Symposium is a one day, not-for-profit conference. It takes place at Wokefield Park, Berkshire, on September 22, with support from lead sponsor PwC.
