A group of professionals have joined forces to establish the Banbury Corporate Finance Initiative to promote Banbury as a centre of excellence for corporate finance in the region. Comprising a mix of bankers, accountants and lawyers and corporate finance advisors, the group will provide local businesses with support for a wide range of corporate finance matters.

Corporate Finance work was once the preserve of city-based banks, accountants and lawyers but it is now carried out wherever there is commercial activity. Banbury is extremely fortunate to have the right mix of corporate finance skills (i.e deal making, banking, accounting, tax and legal) and also a choice of providers.

If you are looking to buy or sell a Banbury business (including management buyouts or buyins) or to inject additional funding into a business, professional help is necessary to ensure that you have the right structure in place for your chosen activity. The key is to draw on the proper mix of advice from individuals with experience and expertise in the corporate finance environment.

The founding members are:

Banks:

Bank of Scotland - Philip Bond

Clydesdale - Paul Graham

HSBC - Adrian Gill

Lloyds TSB - Nigel Swanston

Nat West/RBS - Richard Armitage

Accountants:

Ellacotts - Peter Clayton

Whitley Stimpson - Tim Wallbank

Solicitors:

Bower & Bailey - Rob Brooks

Brethertons - Brian Auld

Spratt Endacott - Hitendra Patel

Intermediary:

Passmore Deals - Jeremy Lincoln

With more than 100 years of experience between them, the individuals listed have worked on hundreds of transactions involving million of pounds worth of funding.

Jeremy Lincoln, chairman of the Banbury Corporate Finance Initiative, explained: “It can be confusing for businesses to know where to turn to for help with corporate finance, so it made sense to establish a single point of access to relevant, professional advice. The Banbury Corporate Finance Initiative brings together a group of experienced individuals who already work collaboratively to support many local businesses.”

The Banbury Corporate Finance Initiative can provide someone who can take you through the complex corporate finance process. Relevant contacts can be sourced to ensure you have access to the right skills. Members say they are happy to provide initial advice on a no-commitment basis with full details of potential costs.
