EcoWatt sponsor Southampton FC training kits
Southampton FC has agreed a new sponsorship deal with green investment company EcoWatt.
The deal sees the training kits of Southampton’s Men’s first and B teams, and Women’s first team, featuring EcoWatt’s branding, with the new kits in use for the first time before the men’s game against Newcastle on 6 November.
Sarah Batters, Director of Partnerships and Marketing for Southampton Football Club said: “We are proud to be partnering with Ecowatt, an organisation which understands the issues around climate change and is making it easy, fast, and convenient for anyone to contribute to climate action in whatever way they can.
“As a club, we are fully committed to ensuring a sustainable future for our fans and community, so we support EcoWatt’s mission, and we look forward to working together throughout the season to better our planet.”
EcoWatt aims to expand the supply of green energy by buying and building renewable power stations. It also funds projects removing carbon dioxide from the atmosphere.
The green investment platform has two main portfolios: the Green Asset portfolio and Impact portfolio.
Its Green Asset portfolio holds a number of new renewable power stations in various levels of development, funded by issuing Green Bonds. Meanwhile, the Impact portfolio focuses on climate impact projects, which issue carbon offsets for projects such as reforestation and rewilding.

Going forward, the company intends to use technology such as the blockchain and tokens to help people invest in sustainable energy solutions.
Thomas Puskas, Founder & CEO of EcoWatt added: “We believe that innovative investment will save the world. We are thrilled to work with this club which has such a genuine and meaningful commitment towards becoming more sustainable and we’re looking forward to accelerating the change with them."
Southampton FC was recently included on the shortlist for the first BBC Sports Green Awards in recognition of its sustainability strategy, which aims to make the club carbon neutral by 2030 and helped the club move from 18th to third in the Sports Positive Premier League sustainability table.
The partnership will see the football club working alongside EcoWatt to reduce its carbon footprint in a similar initiative to the one between nearby Reading Football Club and Reading University.
Lauren Haworth, Global Marketing Director of EcoWatt commented: “This partnership gets to the heart of what real branding is really about, authentic collaborations between brands that share similar values.
“We are so excited to work with Southampton, and together we can make a real tangible difference through more sustainability initiatives that benefit the club, the fans and the planet.”
