Guildford: Charles Russell Speechlys advises healthcare acquisition

Charles Russell Speechlys in Guildford has advised the shareholders of Gerald Simonds Healthcare on their sale to Borrum Healthcare Group.

The acquisition of Gerald Simonds Healthcare, which employs 35 people, enables Borrum Healthcare Group to enter the growing Elderly and Disabled Assistive Technology Market, which is estimated to exceed $26 billion by 2024.

Gerald Simonds Healthcare was founded in 1983 and is highly respected in the assistive technology sector, best known as a successful importer and distributor of high end custom-built manual wheelchairs and wheelchair seating systems.

Borrum will now focus its resources on growing Gerald Simonds’ existing business by increasing geographical coverage and expanding into new and complementary product areas.

Charles Russell Speechlys’ deal team was led by corporate senior associate Rebecca Burford and included Matthew Carter (corporate), Becky Lawton (employment), Brett Rawlings (tax) and Will Harwood (property).

Gerald Simonds, founder of Gerald Simonds Healthcare, commented: “Charles Russell Speechlys, and in particular Rebecca Burford, came highly recommended by our corporate finance adviser, Beer Mergers. I have to say the service we, the shareholders, have received has been truly outstanding.”

Burford added: “It was a pleasure to assist the sellers of Gerald Simonds Healthcare on this transaction. The deal further adds to our corporate team’s experience in the retail and healthcare sectors.”
