Salisbury: NatWest high-flyer shares success with networking group
Julie Baker, head of enterprise for NatWest/Royal Bank of Scotland business banking, recently shared the secrets of her success with the Wessex Women's Professional Networking Group.
More than 30 female professionals, including accountants, solicitors, chartered surveyors, independent financial advisers and bankers, from Dorset, Hampshire, Somerset and Wiltshire attended the event in Salisbury.
Baker’s presentation, 'Having a successful career in a man’s world', described her career path to a senior role at NatWest. The factors she emphasised included a willingness to step outside her comfort zone, having key supporters within the business and finding innovative ways of juggling a demanding career with a happy home life and bringing up two children.
Erin Davis, tax director with chartered accountants and business advisers PKF Francis Clark, who launched the networking group earlier this year, said: "I decided to launch the group, with the support of PKF Francis Clark, after identifying a lack of events for female professionals."
The next event will be on Thursday October 13 at the Grasmere House Hotel, Salisbury when Anita Marsh of House of Colour will be explaining how wearing the right colours helps to express personality and build confidence.
