Poole's largest private employer and one of Britain's largest superyacht builders, Sunseeker International, is looking to recruit 40 new apprentice boat builders to join the team at its shipyards in Dorset, supporting the demand for its latest models and the doubling of the product range from 11 to 22 models over the next three years.

Successful applicants will have the opportunity to kick-start their career in the UK marine industry, learning to become highly skilled in a range of boat construction disciplines, through Sunseeker's award-winning apprenticeship scheme.

Multiple learning pathways are on offer, comprising; carpentry, composites, mechanical engineering, electrical engineering, and furniture joinery taught over three and four years, the scheme provides paid attendance at the Bournemouth and Poole College's Marine Technology Centre, alongside funded on-the-job training at its Poole and Portland shipyards.

Last  year, a Sunseeker apprentice achieved royal recognition at the annual Worshipful Company of Shipwrights, Queens Silver Medal competition receiving the Derek Kimber prize and, in 2018 a Sunseeker apprentice scooped the top prize with a Queens Silver Medal.

This combined with being recognised as the Best Apprenticeship Training Scheme at the 2017 IBI International Boat Builder Awards means successful applicants will be joining a company that is frequently recognised as a leader in apprenticeship training.

Alex Bowman, head of HR operations at Sunseeker International, commented: "Sunseeker has been offering Apprenticeships formore than 50 years. The scheme is a credible route to a very rewarding career. These new team members will learn the necessary craft skills from experienced boat builders to produce the level of quality and attention-to-detail for which Sunseeker is renowned.
