Following excellent recognition last month in The Legal 500, the legal services directories have further reinforced Paris Smith’s position as one of the leading law firms in the South, with the publication of Chambers and Partners UK.

The firm's family department is celebrating after being described once again as the "standout firm" in the region, with Paris Smith the only firm to be ranked in Band 1 for 'Southampton and surrounds'. Partners Frank Prior, Neil Davies and Huw Miles all retained their band 1 ranked lawyer status in this category.

The firm's employment team has again achieved a good result with top-ranked head of department Clive Dobbin and partner David Roath both securing ranked lawyer status,  and the firm being ranked in Band 2 for 'The South', ahead of many larger firms.

The firm's dispute resolution department continues to enjoy strong rankings, too, for its litigation work, together with first time recognition for head of department David Eminton, and for long established partner Clive Thomson.

The corporate restructuring and insolvency team is also celebrating, with only four firms currently ranked ahead in the wider region, and with Mike Pavitt improving his ranked lawyer status to Band 2, and still the only lawyer in the region specifically ranked by Chambers under the category 'Personal Insolvency: UK-wide', where he now appears amongst a select group of 13 of the top ranked lawyers in the country.

In banking and finance James McNeil is ranked among the top six lawyers in the South and he leads a team characterised by its "strength and depth of expertise and experience" whose "people are engaging and easy to communicate with".

In the corporate team Sean Davies, Michael Moore and Jonathon Roy have all been recognised as ranked lawyers once again for their corporate/M&A work, and joining them this year is recent arrival Amanda Brockwell,  while Richard Atcherley is also noted as "one to watch".

The firm also received very pleasing rankings and feedback for the work of its largest department, real estate, in which Tom Georgiou, Mark Howarth and Mark Withers all appeared as ranked lawyers, while the firm moved up into Band 2 for the South with recognition that it offers "high-quality, relevant advice at a sensible price".

Peter Taylor, managing partner, commented on the results, "It is always pleasing to achieve independent recognition and encouraging comments for value and benefits which our clients feel from their engagement with Paris Smith. The particularly rewarding aspects of our entries this year are that each of our core areas of legal and planning services have been recognised and, in addition, a number of our younger partners and associates are receiving the plaudits they so richly deserve. I am delighted that several of the individuals highlighted by the researchers are those who have been working hard to make a success of our Winchester office, which has recently celebrated its second anniversary. We remain absolutely committed to enabling our valued clients to succeed through their positive experience with the firm."
