Vodafone teams up with Emma Raducanu
Vodafone has announced a partnership with teen tennis star Emma Raducanu as its tennis ambassador.
British multinational telecommunications company Vodafone plc recently announced a partnership with the tennis sensation Emma Raducanu to work with the brand and inspire the next generation of tennis players in the UK.
In her new role at Vodafone, the tennis star will become the face of the company’s tennis initiatives, including the newly relaunched competition Play Your Way to Wimbledon, which will be delivered in partnership by the LTA, the All England Lawn Tennis & Croquet Club, and Vodafone.
Thousands of players are getting ready to take part in the beginning stages now that the entries for the competition are open. These initial stages will be held in clubs, parks and schools in June and July and the winners of these stages will be able to progress to the national finals in Wimbledon's Aorangi Courts in August.
Vodafone’s Consumer Director, Max Taylor, said: “Emma has captivated the nation over the last eighteen months, delivering one of the most iconic British sporting moments in recent memory and inspiring a huge number of new players to pick up a racket for the first time.”
In addition to this the LTA and the All England Club, with the support of Vodafone, has plans to expand the competition further in 2023, making sure that people of all age groups and disability categories can be introduced to the world of tennis.
Participation Director at the LTA, Oliver Scadgell, commented: “The introduction of broader age groups and disability categories from 2023 is key to this objective and it’s hugely beneficial to have Emma’s support in encouraging participation.”
Vodafone will use its network and 5G to ensure that Emma stays in touch with her family, friends and fanbase as she tours. The company will continue to work with Emma on building the ‘Raducanu Effect’ and get more people involved in tennis.
Emma Raducanu commented: “I’m so excited to be working with Vodafone to inspire the next generation of tennis players in the UK. The support I received at a grassroots level has been key to my development as a player, and I’m looking forward to helping make these initiatives even bigger, better and more accessible.”
