International legal practice Osborne Clarke has been named regional law firm of the year in the prestigious The Legal 500 Awards.
Osborne Clarke’s South East practice has won the firm (regional) of the year award among corporate and commercial firms. The firm has its Thames Valley office in Reading’s Forbury Road, alongside its London headquarters, a Bristol office and multiple international offices.
Osborne Clarke also picked up the award for transport firm (specialism) of the year in recognition of its work in the rail sector and was shortlisted in the TMT (technology, media and telecoms) firm (specialism) category for its intellectual property work.
It was once again ranked among the Thames Valley’s top tier law firms in last year’s The Legal 500 guide and in several individual categories – corporate and commercial, banking and finance, commercial property and IT and telecoms. Meanwhile several partners based in the region were named as “leading individuals” in their field: Robert Wood, Greg Leyshon and Sara Valentine (corporate), along with Peter Sheppard (litigation) and Hugh Jones (banking and finance).
“Being named the best regional law firm in the country by The Legal 500 is a tremendous accolade and is recognition that we have a hugely talented team here in Reading,” says Robert Wood, head of Osborne Clarke’s Thames Valley office. “Not only do we act for a number of leading corporate clients, intermediaries and banks in the Thames Valley, we can also offer significant international reach across our 20-plus global offices. This is what makes stand out as the ‘go-to’ market leader in the region and it is no doubt a key driver behind this award.”
