Southampton: Kingsbridge Estates begins refurbishment of landmark

Work has begun on a £1.2 million extension and refurbishment at Charlotte Place, a prominent office building in the heart of Southampton.

Owner Kingsbridge Estates, a leading developer of commercial projects across the south, is transforming the building to meet demand for quality city-center office space. Refurbishment work is being carried out by Amiri Construction.

The visual impact of the refurbishment will be obvious to passers-by as an improved, clearer access route on the approach to the building will lead visitors to an extended double height glazed reception area.

Works inside the nine-storey, 80,000 sq ft building will include the addition of a first-floor business lounge offering new breakout and collaborative spaces and improved facilities including secure bicycle parking, showers and lockers, electric vehicle charging points and more energy-efficient lighting.

The available business space will be refurbished and offer a range of suite sizes from 600 sq ft up to 12,000 sq ft.

Chris Fry, chief executive of Kingsbridge Estates, said: “Quality office space in Southampton City centre is in very short supply, and as we all look forward to the lifting of lockdown restrictions we are anticipating increased demand for flexible space that meets the changing needs of businesses.

“Our significant investment in Charlotte Place is in response to that demand and is a prime example of our commitment to creating exciting and dynamic commercial space – taking a local landmark building and creating an exceptional office environment in the heart of Southampton.”

Kingsbridge Estates is a privately owned property company focused on developing and investing in commercial property across the south of England.

Vail Williams and Savills are letting agents for Charlotte Place. A 3D Virtual Tour is available.
