Surrey: Pennyhill Park recognised with Beautiful South Tourism Award
Luxury country house hotel and spa, Pennyhill Park in Bagshot, Surrey, part of the Exclusive Hotels and Venues group, has won the coveted Bronze award in the Large Hotel of the Year category at the Beautiful South Tourism Awards 2015, which were held at the Grand Hotel in Brighton on December 2.
Nigel Smith, chief executive of Tourism South East, commented: “It’s been an exceptional year for Beautiful South Award entries and great to see so many from businesses that haven’t previously entered. It is a reminder of the fantastic range and quality of tourism businesses in the South East which are more than a match for any in the UK. Some are truly world class. The judges have again had the unenviable and difficult task of deciding which of these businesses deserve to be recognised as the best of the best.”
Pennyhill Park, set within 123 acres of rolling Surrey parkland, was the first property to be purchased by the Pecorelli family in 1982, and is the foundation of the Exclusive Hotels and Venue group which now comprises six hotels and venues in the South East.
With original Victorian and Edwardian features, once a 17-bedroom family-run hotel, Pennyhill Park now boasts 123 bedrooms, as well as an award-winning spa set over 45,000 sq ft. Guests can enjoy fine dining at two Michelin starred, five AA Rosette restaurant by Michael Wignall, The Laytmer. In addition the hotel is home to an in-house bakery.
Julian Tomlin, general manager and group director of operations, commented: “We are extremely proud to be recognised as a hotel of excellence within the South East."
Danny Pecorelli, managing director of Exclusive Hotels and Venues, added: “We are absolutely delighted to be recognised for our achievement within the tourism industry – it is a testament to the entire team at Pennyhill Park, who have worked extremely hard to maintain the high standards that are expected of a five-star establishment.”
The Large Hotel of the Year 2015 Award was presented to sales manager Dan Wait.
