Shoosmiths appoints financial services disputes and investigations partner
Law firm Shoosmiths has recruited financial services disputes partner, Daren Allen, to join its growing Financial Services Disputes and Investigations (FSDI) team.
Allen is an expert in business crime and investigations, and joins Shoosmiths after five years as head of these practice areas at Dentons.
He has a strong reputation as a go-to solicitor for banking litigation and representing financial institutions in relation to financial crime-related issues and compliance, and is ranked as a leading individual for banking litigation by The Legal 500 directory.
Allen has extensive experience in acting for retail and investment banks and fintechs on complex investigations, litigation, and regulatory enforcement proceedings that frequently involve money laundering, bribery and corruption, and fraud. He advised the Joint Money Laundering Steering Group on the revision of guidance notes for the financial sector and assisted the Ministry of Justice in drafting the guidance on the Bribery Act 2010.
Jonathon Crook, partner, FSDI said: “There is an ever-increasing need on the part of banks and other financial institutions for highly experienced lawyers to deal with a wide range of complex legal and regulatory challenges, in particular in the fields in which Daren excels.”
