Application submitted to extend Southampton’s Queensway House development
A planning application has been submitted to add a further 20 apartments to Queensway House in Southampton.
Work is already underway to turn the former office block into 33 flats following planning permission granted last year.
Greenglen Limited, the owner of the development, has now submitted an application for a further two floors along with a four-floor rear extension which, if accepted, would bring the total number of flats to 53.

Accompanying the application, a design and access statement claims it will increase the building’s long-term viability and utilise a brownfield site.
It also draws attention to the similarities of the proposals to a lapsed 2016 scheme, as well as noting that the development is “considered to be fully planning policy compliant.”
The plans also include a “living wall”, similar to the ones constructed on the Millbrook Roundabout which were recognised with an award from the Green Organisation, which will help to improve air quality in the area.
