Sports watch maker and GPS specialist Garmin is to expand its UK headquarters in Southampton following strong growth in its European markets.
The Swiss firm has acquired a a further 100,000 square feet of warehouse space on Parham Drive in Eastleigh which will support its existing operations.
The warehouse is based within 10 miles of Garmin’s existing facility and is well connected by road, sea, rail, and air.
Nic Bowler, Garmin director of operations EMEA added: “Garmin continues to expand within Europe, and working with Colliers, I am pleased that we have managed to secure the Proximity facility, which provides some much-needed additional warehouse space. The unit, which has been refurbished and is well located, will mean we can continue to offer our customers an excellent service.”
James Haestier, director Colliers’ Industrial and Logistics team, who helped broker demand for warehouse space in Southampton remained strong.
He said: “I am delighted to have advised Garmin on the acquisition of additional warehouse premises at Proximity in Southampton as the company continues to expand and offer new technologies to the European market. The demand for mid-sized warehouse units within the Southampton market is very strong at the moment, with a lack of supply so acquiring Proximity within a tough market is a testament to all involved to complete the transaction.”
Garmin specialises in GPS technology for automotive, aviation, marine, outdoor, and sport activities and also operates in the fitness activity tracking space.
