Hampshire County Council has announced the five successful companies that secured a place on the Extra Care Procurement Framework.

Family Mosaic Housing, First Wessex Housing Group, The Guinness Partnership, Sanctuary Group and Saxon Weald Homes were all successful in their bid, after a competitive year-long process.

These five organisations will now put forward their own sites or Hampshire County Council-owned sites for development to build affordable Extra Care homes, as the Council carries forward its programme to develop Extra Care Assisted Living across the whole of Hampshire.

The Council is investing £45 million over a decade to stimulate the development of Extra Care Assisted Living schemes across the whole county to add to the four new-build schemes and 12 enhanced sheltered housing schemes that have already opened.

Extra Care Assisted Living provides people with their own individual apartment, coupled with access to communal and shared space, in modern, high-quality, attractive buildings close to local facilities. Schemes include both one and two-bed units to enable couples with differing levels of need to remain living together. Twenty-four hour care and support is available on-site, to be used progressively by people as their needs increase, avoiding early or unnecessary entry to care home settings.
