Carter Jonas, the national property consultancy, has restructured its Architecture and Building Consultancy (ABC) team to incorporate colleagues from Sutton Griffin Architects (SGA) in Newbury.

SGA is an award-winning architecture and masterplanning practice that has been a part of the Carter Jonas network for more than 10 years. It was originally founded in 1910 and is one of the oldest architectural practices in the country.

Based in Newbury and London, its team has worked on projects at every scale including building-restoration schemes in Hertfordshire, town-centre regeneration on the Isle of Wight, a hotel scheme in Gibraltar and new sustainable urban extensions in Cambridgeshire and Somerset.

The restructure follows the appointment in July last year of Alain Torri as head of architecture at Carter Jonas. Based out of Oxford, Torri will now lead a team of 13 including members from Sutton Griffin, working closely with Richard Love, head of the ABC team, to deliver a full range of building-related and architectural services across the country.

Love commented: “This restructure marks an exciting development for Carter Jonas and the ABC team and reflects our continued commitment to building a strong, national and joined-up service offering for our clients.

“Over the years we have worked on a number of projects with our colleagues from Sutton Griffin and adding a new skill-set to our team and combining forces strengthens our ability to draw on multi-disciplinary expertise and work truly collaboratively, under one brand and under the same roof.”

The benefits of this new approach are already being realised. Together the team has overseen the design and development of a new hotel project with restaurant and ancillary accommodation, from planning to practical completion. Additionally, proposals have been submitted for the major redevelopment of Ahmadiyya Muslim Association’s base near Farnham. The ambitious plans include a new mosque and buildings for administration, classrooms, a sports hall and guest accommodation.
