The joint venture between Landid and Brockton Capital has reached agreement with a further three occupiers to take space in Thames Tower, the partnership’s landmark office development, which sits on the town’s pedestrianised piazza, directly opposite the newly rebuilt £800 million Elizabeth Line-connected Reading station.

MBNL, the broadband network joint venture between EE and 3, will move its offices from Amersham into Reading after taking 14,000 sq ft in Thames Tower. The telecommunications provider has let the whole of the 6th floor of the 14-storey tower.

Broadway Malyan, an award-winning international architecture, urbanism and design consultant, is relocating its Theale office into Thames Tower. The firm is taking 4,750 sq ft on the 5th floor – moving in next to national law firm Clarkslegal, which took 8,550 sq ft in late 2017.

The third letting comes from non-profit organisation the Make-A-Wish Foundation, which is moving to Reading from Camberley to take 4,150 sq ft on the 7th floor. The charity, which arranges experiences for children with life-threatening medical conditions, will move in next to HSBC, after the financial services giant signed up for 9,500 sq ft in early 2017.

The three lettings come soon after shared workspace provider Fora took 27,600 sq ft on the ground, 1st and 2nd floors. Other occupiers at Thames Tower include professional services firm BDO taking the whole of the 12th floor; award-winning recruitment firm Austin Fraser taking 14,040 sq ft on the 11th floor; computer software provider Objective Corporation taking 7,000 sq ft on the 10th floor and natural food specialist Pret A Manger signing up for space on the ground floor.

In total 10 occupiers have now signed up to Thames Tower.

James Silver, Landid Development director, said: “It’s really exciting to welcome MBNL, Broadway Malyan and Make-A-Wish into Thames Tower – and as all three tenants are new entrants to Reading the deals are a great boost to the town centre, which is really going from strength to strength. Thames Tower is a workplace like no other in Reading and these deals further underline the building’s appeal to the next generation of businesses in the Thames Valley and beyond.”

Thames Tower’s location in Reading, which is equidistant from London and Oxford, is a major draw to occupiers, and offers excellent access to rail and road connections. Currently just 24 minutes from London Paddington station, Reading will enjoy even closer connections and reduced journey times when the Elizabeth Line opens in 2019.

This will include direct connections to Heathrow Airport and Central London stations, including Bond Street and Tottenham Court Road, widening the net for the potential workforce.

The 195,000 sq ft building also features superfast internet connections and has been awarded a WiredScore rating of Gold, making it the first office building in Reading to achieve a certification through the global connectivity rating scheme.

The project, designed by dn-a architects, saw the original 10-storey 1970s building stripped back to its frame, floor plates were extended and four floors added – creating an additional 62,000 sq ft of space.

Thames Tower comprises over 180,000 sq ft of flexible office space, with generous floor-to-soffit heights of 3.1m on floors 1-10, 3.7m on 11th–13th floors and 4.2m on the 14th floor. Panoramic glazing provides large volumes of natural light throughout the day.

Landid/Brockton was represented by Parkinson Holt and JLL.

MBNL was represented by GVA, Broadway Malyan was represented by RARE and Make A Wish was represented by Hicks Baker.
