The South Central region around the M27 has and will grow more than the UK average, revealed Savills research experts at the latest Regenerate South event. In the past five years the region has experienced 14% economic growth compared with a UK average of 11%.

The South Central region from Bournemouth to Chichester and Farnborough to the Isle of Wight, combines prime coastal locations and excellent quality of life, with affordable employment space whilst maintaining easy access to the capital and the rest of the UK.

Regenerate South is facilitating collaboration between property stakeholders to ensure that sites in the region are both developed and promoted.  Regenerate South combines expertise from the private and public sectors to deliver market ready sites in the South. It showcases the quality of business and investment opportunities available in this part of the UK directly to relevant investors. The group also promotes those sites at the national and international level to drive inward investment.

Regenerate South brought stakeholders from the South together with those located in London at its latest event which took place in the Capital on October 18. The exclusive event showcased the region and directly provided investors with relevant and high-quality development opportunities, promoting the South’s proximity to, and close economic relationship with, our Capital City.

The meeting followed the significant interest in the South’s leading investment locations that was demonstrated at the Regenerate South Showcase held earlier this year, where over 200 delegates visited the South’s top development sites.

Dr Lucy Greenwood, research associate at Savills and keynote speaker, revealed at the event that the M27 has and will continue to grow more than UK average. “Due to its prime coastal locations and expanding technology sector the region is forecast to continue to achieve higher economic growth than the UK average” Greenwood explained. “However, public-sector support and industry collaboration is needed to help development succeed, making the work of Regenerate South invaluable.”

Tim Hancock, chair of the Regenerate South Sector Group and managing director of Terence O’ Rourke, opened the event “Regenerate South is putting the South Central Region on the map for investment, development and regeneration,” Hancock said. “The initiative is about working collaboratively, providing a platform from which we in the property sector can collectively achieve the economic potential of the region. We are doing this by working closely with Local Authorities and MPs to support strategically important developments and then promoting those developments at events such as the 4th Regenerate South Conference which will take place in June 2018.”
