Southampton: HBS to install solar systems at 200-home development
HBS New Energies has been selected to design, supply and install solar PV systems for 200 new homes being constructed at Kestrel Park, a new residential development in Southampton, from national housebuilder Taylor Wimpey (Southern Counties).
Located in the village of Bursledon, Kestrel Park will boast a collection of high-specification and energy-efficient homes. There will be 70 dwellings allocated for affordable housing and the remaining properties available for private sale.
The large-scale housing scheme includes 2, 3, 4 and 5 bedroom properties covering a range of detached, semi-detached and terraced houses, as well as a block of flats comprising of between six and nine units.
This latest solar contract award builds on HBS New Energies reputation as a preferred PV delivery partner for multiple regions of Taylor Wimpey. It takes the number of Taylor Wimpey developments across the UK with solar panels currently being installed by HBS up to eight.
Delivering best-value solar solutions for Taylor Wimpey
Whiteley-based HBS’s design team engineered a roof-mounted PV system to best suit the mix of house types and apartment blocks for Kestrel Park. They worked closely with the client to ensure the scheme achieved the required 19% reduction target in carbon emissions through on-site renewable generation. This best-value solution achieved the site-wide kWp target within budget.
Upon completion, the 132 kWp new-build solar PV scheme will annually generate an estimated 117,678 kWh of zero carbon electricity, saving the housebuilder and its customers up to 61,074 kg of carbon per year.
James Bull, managing director, HBS New Energies, said: “I am delighted that Taylor Wimpey has selected HBS once again as their trusted PV partner to complete solar installations at Kestrel Park. The appointment demonstrates the consistent performance and high standard of service we have provided over the last eight years, helping the housebuilder achieve energy targets and reduce carbon emissions across their developments through solar. We look forward to supporting the construction of sustainable new homes at this scheme.’’
