Leading housebuilder David Wilson Homes Southern, based in Hungerford, has built 642 homes in its operational area during the past year and contributed over £104 million to the UK’s economic output.

The achievements are highlighted in a new report which measures the housebuilder’s social and economic contribution to the region over the past financial year (July 1, 2018 – June 30, 2019).

The housebuilder covers Berkshire, Hampshire and Oxfordshire.

Included within the company’s socio-economic footprint are key figures relating to the company’s support for the housebuilding supply chain, local communities, environment, public services and employment.

The figures revealed the housebuilder:

  • Supported over 1,600 jobs directly and through its contractors and suppliers
  • Directly employed 11 new graduates, trainees and apprentices
  • Supported 250 subcontractor companies and 380 supplier companies
  • 90% of components used in the construction process were manufactured in the UK
  • Planted or retained over 1,400 trees or shrubs on its developments
  • Spent £5.4m on local contributions including the Community Infrastructure Levy and s106 contributions
