HBS Group Southern has further strengthened its strategic partnership with Barratt David Wilson Homes (Southampton) following the appointment to deliver mechanical and solar PV services at Quarter Jack Park, a major 305-unit housing development in Wimborne.

The combined plumbing, heating and solar PV contract win builds on HBS’ reputation as a preferred delivery partner for the five-star housebuilder’s Southampton office. It takes the number of projects awarded to the’ Mechanical and New Energies divisions to nine, with the most recent being Canford Paddock in Dorset.

Kevin Bull, managing director at HBS Group Southern, said: “HBS has been working with Barratt David Wilson Homes Southampton for well over two decades and so we are proud to be selected once again as their preferred contractor for Quarter Jack Park. We look forward to supporting the delivery of this new sustainable community with high quality, end-to-end mechanical and solar PV services.”

Situated in Wimborne Minister, the project will feature 305 properties, including a 28% provision for affordable housing split between rented and shared ownership. Finished to a high specification, the Quarter Jack Park development will offer a range of two, three and four bedroom homes, with 75 new homes set to benefit from roof-integrated solar PV panels.

Lead by a SSMTS qualified contracts manager, HBS Mechanical’s on-site teams will manage the supply, installation, testing, commissioning and statutory compliance of all gas, heating and water system requirements for 78 private units at the David Wilson Homes side of the development.

The Mechanical division is committed to providing a reliable and consistent service at every stage of the housebuilding programme, and will be focused on completing 1st, 2nd fix and finals in line with the client’s quality expectations, NHBC standards and our in-house quality management system.

Barratt David Wilson Homes (Southampton) selected HBS New Energies as its preferred solar PV partner to design and install all in-roof photovoltaic requirements at the dual branded Quarter Jack Park development.

HBS said: "By adopting a value engineered approach, our in-house design team reduced the recommended kWp down to 116 kWp, whilst still meeting the 10% reduction in energy demand through on-site renewable energy technologies. This delivered a valuable saving for the client.

"We achieved this by selecting the most optimum roof orientations for both the David Wilson and Barratt Homes plots, maximising PV system size across the least number of units.

"When complete, the black 300W integrated solar panels will generate an estimated 106,938 kWh in annual zero carbon electricity for the new homeowners at Quarter Jack Park, reducing the developments carbon emissions by up to 55.5 tonnes per year."
