Reading: Cloud hosting specialist appoints COO
Reading-based cloud hosting provider Amito has announced that Simon Utting is stepping into the newly created role of chief operating officer (COO). The move is part of the ambitious growth strategy for the owners of Reading’s largest datacentre.
Previously technical director, Utting is one of Amito’s founding partners. In this new operational role, he’ll continue to build out the business’ fast-growing technical teams, in response to increased customer demand.
The award-winning team has seen considerable growth in recent months, with new hires across both its technical and sales divisions.
Utting’s appointment sees CEO and founder Ed Butler transition to strategically leading the business through its next key phase of growth, building on its expanding London presence and expanding capacity through its continued infrastructure investment.
Utting commented: “Covid-19 has put future-proofed cloud deployments at the centre of many businesses’ recovery plans. While this has been a busy time for Amito, the restructure is testimony to the strength of our growth plans and staying on track. There’s a lot of change ahead, but we have a brilliant team in place who are ready to drive this next phase in Amito’s story.”
Re-branded in 2018, Amito was formed with the merger of the founder team’s previous businesses, iCloud Hosting and Everest Datacentres, and their subsequent acquisition of Crosspoint Colocation in 2016.
Butler added: “With the potential of further acquisitions in Amito’s future, we’re set for another period of exponential growth. It was critical to have someone with Si’s track record of growing and developing talented teams in this operational role. Without a doubt, he’ll make every success of it.”
