Reading: Kickstarter jobs at MedTech start-up Occuity
Occuity, a MedTech start-up researching revolutionary optical technology and developing medical devices that work by scanning the eye, has plans to bring more jobs to Reading.
18 months since its formation in 2019, Occuity has grown from a team of two founders to over 20 employees and plans to take on a further 30 personnel over the next 12 months. New recruits include some of the UK’s leading optical engineers, mechanical engineers, and software developers. There has also been growth in the marketing team, project management and support roles.
Occuity has plans to further accelerate research and development activities with the addition of further technical roles, and 7 Kickstarter apprentice opportunities ahead of the market launch of its first product in the summer of 2021.
Commenting on the company’s growth, founder and CEO, Dan Daly, said: “I could not be more pleased to have already built such an experienced and knowledgeable team. They are bringing us closer to our mission to revolutionise disease detection and monitoring by making it non-contacting and pain-free.
"Moreover, I am happy to be bringing valuable jobs to Reading. I’m particularly pleased that through the Kickstarter program we can offer local young people the opportunity to learn from and work alongside some of the UK's leading engineers.”
With Occuity launching a new £2.5 million crowdfunding investment round, the company’s growth is expected to continue to accelerate and grow to over 50 employees by the end of 2021.
