Speakers from Crossrail and Heathrow Airport are the first names revealed for Reading 2030, a half-day conference on 24 November organised by The Business Magazine.
Bringing the Reading and wider Thames Valley business community back together in person, the conference will unveil development and business updates from some of the region's most important organisations, and discuss what the future is shaping up to look like for businesses, workplaces and day to day quality of life.
Progress with Crossrail, Elizabeth line set to open in 2022; the future of Heathrow and the rail spur to the airport from Reading; developments on open land south of the M4; the redevelopment of the Reading town-centre area opposite the station; the new business parks- all are encouraging signs of continued growth in the region.
Hot topics being discussed at the event on 24 November include housing, infrastructure, reshaping post-Covid workplaces and what attracts people and businesses to Reading.
The audience of company directors, business owners, professionals and key public sector officials will also have opportunities and time for networking and informal discussions during the event.
The Reading 2030 conference celebrates Reading's position as second only to London in economic contribution per worker in the UK and the number of businesses per capita, as well as being the best place to start a business in the UK.
Alex Tatham, Managing Director at Reading-headquartered Westcoast, explained why the company values Reading's pivotal location: “We sit at the heart of the UK’s supply chain for IT products and services and have been one of the UK’s most essential supply chain businesses in the Covid-19 pandemic period. With new technology being developed every day and global supply challenges presenting new obstacles for British business, Westcoast puts Reading and the Thames Valley at the centre of the action.”
