Congratulations to Solent 250 businesses Clearvision, Workdry International (Selwood) and CT Automotive for solid international sales performances that saw them appear in the 2021 The Sunday Times HSBC International Track 200. The listing ranks the UK’s top medium-sized, privately-owned companies with strong export growth.

International sales of companies are measured over their latest two years of available accounts. The listing is open to companies with sales between £25 million and £1b, where international sales account for at least 5% of the total.

Southampton-based software and support company Clearvision is 101st in the league table, with two-year average international sales growth of 38.42%. The judges said the company “has helped clients transition to remote working during the pandemic”.

Eastleigh-based pump manufacturer and plant hire company Workdry International (Selwood – see Selwood article here) is 129th, with two-year average international sales growth of 30.32%. The company’s “low emission pumps have been supplied to engineers helping expand the Paris Metro”.

Portsmouth-based automotive parts supplier CT Automotive is 196th with two-year average international sales growth of 18.56%. Despite the coronavirus pandemic, “production has been maintained in at least one of its three global locations”.

Overall, this year’s International Track 200 companies increased their overseas sales by an average of 55% a year over two years, from a total of £4.7b to £8.7b. The top countries for overseas sales were the US (111 companies), Germany (89), France (50), Ireland (49), the Netherlands (49), Australia (48), Spain (25) and China (24). Consumer goods was the largest industry (42 companies), followed by business services (34), technology, media and telecoms (31) and engineering (25).

In 2020, the key themes that companies had to contend with were Covid-19, Brexit uncertainty, trading with the US and e-commerce.
