Trethowans has appointed three new trainee solicitors as it continues with its ambitious growth plans to become a £20 million firm. The new recruits will be based at two of its key offices in Southampton and Poole.

Kira McKane has started her training with the commercial litigation team in Southampton. The University of Southampton graduate will get to work on projects for big name brands as well as local businesses. McKane decided to apply for a role with Trethowans after being impressed by the law firm at the South Coast Business Awards in 2015.

Zach Rooney joins Trethowans in Poole, having previously worked for one of the firm’s commercial property clients in Salisbury. Rooney, who plays lacrosse for Reading in his spare time, will begin his training in the Poole private client team.

Gerrard Tin completes the trio of 2017 trainees and is spending the first part of his training on secondment with Meridian Corporate Finance, which Trethowans works closely with on corporate deals. Tin read law at University College London and is no stranger to Trethowans, having previously worked in the company’s banking team as a paralegal.

Chris Whiteley, managing partner at Trethowans, said: “We pride ourselves on being professional and also providing an excellent service. These bright new recruits have displayed fantastic potential to help us deliver our strategy and we’re delighted that they chose to join us.”

Trethowans announced its ambition to become a £20m turnover firm by 2020 earlier this year. It comes off the back of two years’ impressive growth which has seen the four-office firm grow by 37 per cent to over £15m. Currently, Trethowans is a top 150 law firm which has coincidently been in existence for 150 years and has a team of 212 people, including 35 partners.
