Southampton: Mountpark wins planning permission for industrial logistics site
Mountpark Logistics has won planning permission for an industrial logistics site in Southampton on what was formerly a Ford UK manufacturing facility. The site was acquired in December 2015 and is owned as part of a joint venture between Mountpark and USAA Realco.
The site is divided into two parts, with the smaller site of 6.67 acres currently under offer to a single occupier. The planning permission has been granted for the main site, which spans 18.7 acres, and is for an industrial and logistics development totalling around 366,000 sq ft.
Phillip O’Callaghan, managing director of Mountpark Logistics, commented: “This is a major milestone for Mountpark Southampton, and we intend to speculatively develop the site in a range of unit sizes. As such it will be one of the first major speculative developments in the wider M27 corridor for a number of years – a boost for the surrounding area and the market as a whole.”
Councillor Simon Letts, leader of Southampton city council, said: “This new development is exceptionally important for the city. The site has been retained for employment use and will generate future employment opportunities for residents of Southampton.”
Agents marketing the scheme for Mountpark Logistics are Bilfinger GVA, DTRE and Cushman & Wakefield.
