Everybody knows the nature of employment is changing. Students need new skills, employees expect different experiences and workplaces require a greater level of diversity. It was this shared vision that brought Volume and Women in Business together.
Today, just 17% of British people in technology-based roles are female.[1] And, unless we change the stigma surrounding such jobs, this trend will only continue. In fact, only half of female students studying IT & technology subjects at school go into a career in the same field.
Volume – an award-winning leader in conversational AI, immersive experiences and humanoid robotics – has always had its eye on the future; one that revolves around creating a positive, highly diverse working environment. Such an unfamiliar professional territory like AI requires niche job roles – from conversational AI engineers and dialogue authors, to XR developers and cognitive consultants. And so creating the right talent pipeline is key.
Over the past five years, the company has continued to take positive steps forward with Volume Academy – its work-placement scheme – which has helped train more than 160 aspiring professionals in the technology, creative and client services fields.
To build on this, and further promote opportunities for females in tech, Volume is delighted to partner with Women in Business, which will be led by Gemma Hood, chief operating officer at Volume. The company will also be a proud sponsor of the Rising Star Award at the 2019 Women in Business Awards.
This opens the door to learn from others within the network and share success stories that will inspire the next generation of females about a prosperous career working in the ‘Now Generation’ of technology-driven experiences.
