Thames Valley: Blandy & Blandy announce new chairman
Leading Thames Valley law firm Blandy & Blandy, which has offices in Reading, Henley-on-Thames and London, has announced that Nick Burrows will assume the role of chairman from April 1, 2021.
He will succeed Brenda Long, who has steered the firm very successfully since 2016.
Burrows is a partner in the Corporate & Commercial team and is highly experienced in advising clients across the charity and education sectors. His expertise is recognised in both of the UK’s leading legal directories, Chambers UK and The Legal 500. He joined the firm in 2002 and has previously served as one of Blandy & Blandy’s joint managing partners.
Welcoming Burrows into the role, Long said: “I am delighted to be handing over to Nick, who is a hugely respected, dedicated and approachable colleague and lawyer.
"For our clients, contacts and colleagues, the past year has represented one of the more challenging periods in our firm’s near 300-year history. With his significant experience, I have no doubt that Nick is the perfect choice to lead Blandy & Blandy through the coming months and years, as the UK begins to emerge from this pandemic and looks towards a hopefully strong recovery.
"For the final time as chairman, I would again like to thank our entire team for their hard work and dedication during the past 12 months in particular.”
Burrows added: “I would like to express the firm’s thanks to Brenda and to say that I am greatly looking forward to working closely with our joint managing partners, Tim Clark and Jonathan Gater, and with our fellow partners and colleagues, to support our clients’ evolving needs and expectations as we look to the future.
"According to recent research, the Thames Valley is among the best-placed regions in the UK in terms of recovering from this downturn and returning to a point of growth and prosperity for individuals and business. As a firm, we are committed to playing our part in that journey.”
